Lac Monge is a pristine glacial spring-fed private lake surrounded by the 700-acre Temulac family estate in the Laurentian foothills. The estate features a main residence, a guest quarters, a guest cottage, and a garage with office making it the ultimate multigenerational family compound rich in history. Ideally located 5 minutes from New World Rafting, 20 minutes from Kenauk Nature, le Chateau Montebello and 1h15 from Montreal. The ultimate destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
The Temulac Estate's main residence was built in 1949,
remarkably, from trees felled on the property the preceding
winter. Known as the '49er or '49er Lodge, it was fully
renovated in 2000-2002 and is the central gathering and
dining place of the Temulac Estate. Its main living room
and sunroom amply accommodate family and friends to share
and enjoy incredible sunsets over Lac Monge. Throughout the
day, the main room abounds with light from large dormer
windows on the North and South and demi-lune windows
framing the functional central mass fireplace on the East.
The sunroom has beautiful stone flooring and three walls of
picture windows offering incredible, ever-changing view of
Lac Monge and visiting loons and ducks. The '49er Lodge
also offers: 2 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a
separate main bathroom, plus a walk-in closet in the master
bedroom; and a kitchen. The '49er Lodge is a 3-season
residence.
The '49er Guest Quarters was built in 2011 -- 2014. The
construction style conforms to the post and beam
construction of the 3-bay P&B Machine Shed behind the Main
Garage/Office and the 2-Bay P&B Woodshed at the Guest
Cottage. The '49er Guest Quarters sits atop a heavy
full-size cement foundation poured directly on the Canadian
Shield. The '49er Guest Quarters was built with fully
insulated exterior walls and roof to make the Temulac
Estate enjoyable as a 4-season residential destination.The
'49er Guest Quarters comprises 1,892 sq. ft., including: a
main level (575 sq. ft.) common living area plus 2
bedrooms, each with a full ensuite bathroom; and an upper
loft level (768 sq. ft.) work/play/sleeping area. Both
levels offer beautiful views of Lac Monge and have maple
flooring from trees felled on Falloon Road properties. The
kitchen and reading areas on the main level have custom
pine shelving, counter tops and center island from trees
felled on Falloon Road properties.
The Guest Cottage was built in 1965, refurbished in 1997
(when the road from the Main Garage/Office was built,
electricity accessed, an independent well drilled, hot and
cold water tanks added and the front deck installed) and
the Guest Cottage was refreshed in 2018. The Guest Cottage
and its deck (24' x 32') enjoy incredible views of Lac
Monge and the Canadian Shield cliff, and the deck is a
perfect place to host a BBQ or to relax in the shade by the
water on a summer afternoon. The adjoining 2 Bay P&B
Woodshed was built in 1997. The Guest Cottage comprises a
main living room with an imposing granite central mass
fireplace to enjoy during chilly autumn evenings and a
kitchen/dining area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Being a
short walk from the '49er Lodge via a shaded path and
footbridge over the brook which flows out of Lac Monge, the
Guest Quarters enjoys a privacy apart from the main '49er
complex. It is a 3-season cottage.
